WORKOUT CLOTHES THAT HELPED ME AFTER A C-SECTION
Sep 30, 2021
In the past few weeks, I have brought on a few new clients who have recently had a c-section. Seeing these women begin their exercise journeys is so inspiring to me - and also reminds me how challenging this phase of life was for me after I had Beau.
One thing (of freaking many) I noticed about getting back into fitness post-c-section vs. Vagional delivery was how none of my workout clothes fit comfortably or made me feel good.
Long after I was fitting back into my old jeans, sweaters, etc. Did I felt like crap in my workout clothes?
Why?
Well - they all rubbed on my scar. And that is not comfortable. Also - while I may have “lost the baby weight” I was weak and out of shape, and my mid-section was...different (hence me returning to fitness).
So while I was motivated to start working out - putting on clothes that made me feel none-steller really didn’t help.
Eventually, I found a few staple pieces I physically and mentally felt good in. Below are a few of my suggestions.
- HIGH WAISTED AND LIGHT FABRIC SHORTS
Perhaps my number one rec the summer after I had Beau are these free people shorts. They are light, flattering, have the perfect thickness/ nut stretchiness of the waistband, not too expensive, and come in lots of colors. They sell out all the time but you can often find them on Amazon Here and HERE
- LONG DARK THIN LEGGINGS
During my pregnancy, I lived in Lulu Lemon Align legging-sized up but promptly wanted to burn the pair I wore again and again after.
That being said I have loved the thin feel of the waistband of thinner leggings ever since. Plus they just feel more comfy and flattering to me.
Here are my top 3 faves (of varying price)
- High Waisted Biker Shorts - But paired with a sweatshirt
Took me a little time but I started really loving the biker short trend. I opt for longer fit in dark colors. I really like Carbon38’s ______ model. They have a very thick waistband. I recommend sizing up in them (for biker shorts is weird I know) because the waistband is kinda tight.

- Amazon crop tops
While it may seem crazy I often feel like c-section moms are wearing super baggy shirts to cover their stomachs and the look is often making them appear bigger. While I didn’t do it right away I started loving more fitted shirts or crop tops. NOTE: I wore these with super high-waisted bottoms so there wasn’t some huge belly space when I was newly postpartum. While I loved the crop top - I did not want to spend a lot of cash on tops that were being sweated in, spit upon, and milk jugs shoved in.
HERE is an amazon brand I like.
